HARVEST HOMES APARTMENTS

  • Location: Chicago
  • Completed: February 2017
  • Delivery method: General contractor

Powers & Sons built Harvest Homes Apartments, located at 3514-46 West Fifth Avenue, in East Garfield Park.

The first new housing of its kind in the area for over three decades, the project was driven by the People’s Community Development Association of Chicago and the NHP Foundation in partnership with the Chicago Department of Planning and Development, Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, JP Morgan Chase Bank, and the Chicago Community Loan Fund.

Built on formerly rubble-strewn vacant lots, Harvest Homes Apartments contains 36 two-, three-, and four-bedroom units for low- to moderate-income families.

The four three-story buildings have a brick and architectural cast stone exterior and were constructed with panelized interior metal stud and block-demising walls.

With off-street parking and exterior security cameras, each unit contains washer and dryer hook-ups and energy-efficient HVAC systems, appliances, and windows.  Outdoor seating areas and a parking lot were constructed with landscape pavers.

Harvest Homes Apartments is compliant with State of Illinois energy-efficient affordable housing standards.
