The 25,000 SF new West Perry Library features a sustainable design, smart technologies, and a nature-inspired environment that includes patio seating. It serves diverse patrons residing in Perry Township, a growing community on the south side of Indianapolis.

In 2023, West Perry Library was recognized for sustainability by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) East North Central (ENC) Region, an area which includes Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. The USGBC named West Perry Library as Indiana’s Green Building of the Year in the LEED for Building Design + Construction category. The LEED Gold certified library was also recognized by the AIA with a 2021 Cleveland Design Award.

The West Perry Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library features a spacious, accessible front entry with adult, teen, and children’s areas, 120-seat community room, 30 computer workstations, comfortable reading nooks, small-group study rooms, information desk, a fireplace with fire-side seating, and an outdoor patio with seating.

Located on a six-acre site, the grounds include a 100-space parking lot and drive-through materials drop-off lane. Power for 80% of the library is provided by solar panels and other energy-efficient features are included. Professional landscaping featuring native species, pedestrian walks, and a storm water detention pond surround the building.

Powers & Sons continues our partnership with the Indianapolis Public Library and are currently constructing its new Glendale Branch, which is expected to open in 2023.
