- Location: Chicago
- Completed: December 2008
- Delivery method: General Contractor
One of several Powers & Sons Construction has completed for the University of Chicago over the years, this scope of work was to renovate and convert a former Illinois Bell switching station building into an office building.
Renovations to the five-story, 94,000 SF structure included site work, exterior masonry restoration, and new windows. New MEP, HVAC, and sprinkler systems were installed. Inside, the interior was gutted and reconfigured with a new main entrance, two new elevators, and two new pedestrian bridges spanning a former light court that was converted into an enclosed atrium with skylight.
The Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago (TTIC) occupies space in the building. The remainder contains U of C staff offices, a training center, and a data center.
