HARPER COURT: TEN-FLOOR BUILD

This was the first of seven projects Powers & Sons has completed at the 1,100,000 SF Harper Court.

The sustainable mixed-use University of Chicago property at 5235 South Harper Court in Hyde Park includes an office tower above 53,000 SF of retail and restaurant space, a Hyatt Place hotel, residential units, and a parking structure.

Our scope for this project was to build ten floors of office space comprising a total of 150,000 SF in the tower.

The Powers team constructed expansive lobbies with wood and glass feature walls, open-concept and private offices, conference and meeting rooms, IT spaces, copy rooms, storage spaces, restrooms, staff break rooms, and kitchens.

Following an ambitious schedule, work was completed in 85 working days and earned LEED Platinum Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Goals for MBE and WBE participation (MBE 30% and WBE 5%) were exceeded by over 200 percent, with MBE 61% and WBE 23% achieved.
