CLEVELAND AVENUE OPEN HOUSE

On Monday, May 22, the Powers & Sons team celebrated the opening of Cleveland Avenue, the ultimate place to screen, develop and fine-tune restaurant, food and beverage concepts for scale and profitability.

Cleveland Avenue, located on 222 N. Canal Street in Chicago, Illinois, features 33,000 square feet of state-of-the-art facility launched by Former McDonald’s CEO, Don Thompson. Cleveland Avenue’s mission is to foster growth for new generation of remarkable restaurant, food tech and beverage companies. They provide the financial resources, expertise, and individual support to innovative restaurants, food, and beverage startups.

Powers & Sons was the General Contractor for the first floor conversion into a restaurant, meeting space, and two bar areas with a test kitchen. Our team included Dan O’Laughlin as Senior Project Manager, Robert Kennedy as Assistant Project Manager, and David Nicholson as Superintendent.

KELLY POWERS BARIA RECEIVES WOMEN OF EXCELLENCE AWARD

Congratulations to Kelly Powers Baria, who was honored as one of the Chicago Defender’s Women of Excellence. This significant award celebrates local African American women who inspire others through their vision and leadership, exceptional achievements, and participation in community service.

Every year the Chicago Defender honors 50 Women of Excellence who are nominated by their various communities where they work, pray and play.   The 50 honorees chosen are amongst Chicago’s most outstanding women whose lives exemplify the spirit of performing at the top of their game and giving back to the community. The women selected represent excellence both demonstrating performance on the job and in their community.
