Powers & Sons Construction is recognized by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) with a Half Century Business Award. The June 16 recognition was given to Hoosier businesses that have continuously been in operation for at least 50 years.

The Powers & Sons team is one of two firms who built The Sable at Navy Pier Chicago.  The new Hilton property has over 230 guest rooms and a rooftop entertainment area. Cold-formed steel-bearing walls and a floor joist system designed to spread the hotel’s weight across the pier originally constructed in 1916 were installed. Over 51 micropiles were driven into two feet of lake bedrock to support the enormous weight. The first and only hotel on the pier, the March 18 opening for guests was delayed a few months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
