Mamon Powers, Jr. Interviews with Black Enterprise

As construction on the $359 million Obama Presidential Center nears, Powers & Sons is honored to be part of this once in a lifetime project. Mamon Powers, Jr.; CEO and Chairman of the board, at Powers & Sons Construction sat down with Black Enterprise to discuss the Lakeside Alliance and their involvement with the Obama Presidential Center.

Lakeside Alliance was selected by the Obama Foundation to serve as the construction manager for the Obama Presidential Center that will be built in Jackson Park on the South Side of Chicago. The Obama Presidential Center will be located near The University of Chicago’s campus and feature free public spaces such as a forum building, museum, plaza, and an athletic center.

The five firms involved are Powers & Sons Construction, Turner Construction Company, UJAMAA Construction, Inc., Brown & Momen, Inc., and Safeway Construction Company, Inc.

“By the four firms coming together, hopefully, it becomes the model for other firms to see what can be accomplished by working together and supporting one another. It is our goal to provide job opportunities at levels not normally seen,” said Powers.
